Note: I received all of the following ARCs through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I recently went on a kick of requesting new books through NetGalley, which had the same mixed results as you would expect. I’ve read some very good ARCs (and I got my hands on a galley of Everything, Everything–can’t wait to read it!), but this blog post is not about those books. This is about the books that just didn’t measure up.
The Best TV Shows that Never Were
I loved the idea of this book. The author has collected a huge amount of TV pilots that never made it off the ground, asking readers to wonder if they would have opted to make that pilot into a TV series. Unfortunately, it was a little too dry for me. The book consists of short paragraph descriptions of the show’s premise, and that’s about it. I just couldn’t get into it.
The Offering and The Congregation
These two books are the beginning of a mystery series, which, as you know, is right up my alley. But I barely got past the first chapter in the first book, and I didn’t even touch the second. Considering my current financial state, maybe now was not the best time to read about obnoxious rich people solving mysteries on vacation.
When the Music Stops
I actually finished reading this one, though I had very few feelings about it. This book is the sequel to 84 Ribbons, which I likewise felt kind of meh about. Not much happens in this book, other than a lot of angst, and I’ve already forgotten every character’s name. I didn’t hate it, but I definitely wouldn’t read it again.
