Hey, thanks for visiting my blog! I’m Monica, and it is one of my life’s goals to read every single Newbery Medal award winning book (and Newbery Honor book) ever written, since the award was first given out in 1922. I’m on a mission to read every single one, no matter how good or bad, exciting or dull, so you don’t have to. Check out my reviews to see whether the books that win the awards are really all they’re cracked up to be. (Not interested in kid lit or YA books? I also read and review adult fiction and occasionally non-fiction books.)
As for me? I live in Florida with my husband and give private music lessons. I started reading at the age of four, and I’ve been a bookworm ever since. I also offer editing and proofreading services, which you can read more about here.
Let’s keep in touch! You can follow me on Bloglovin, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, or Goodreads. You can also sign up for my monthly newsletter and get the latest updates, delivered straight to your inbox! I’d love to hear your thoughts on books, life, and more, so please contact me or leave a comment if you’ve got any ideas or thoughts to share.
If you enjoy what you read in my reviews, please consider supporting Newbery and Beyond by swapping guest posts with me. I’d love to share my thoughts about all things bookish on your blog, and I’m sure my readers will want to hear your thoughts as well. You can find my contact info, along with my book review policy and sponsored posts information, on this page.
Ratings: I’m terrible about being consistent with numerical rating systems, and even saying “I liked it” can be misleadingly generic, in my opinion. Therefore, I went with a wordier, but hopefully self-explanatory rating system. From best to worst: Re-read Worthy, Pretty Darn Good, Good but Forgettable, Meh, Skip This One, and Traumatizingly Bad. Books that have a compelling plot, writing style, or both, but just aren’t my thing will be labeled Not My Cup of Tea.
Policies: I sometimes receive books or products for free in exchange for an honest review. Each of these will be labeled as such with a disclosure policy at the top of the post. Comments are welcome and encouraged–I love interacting with fellow bookworms!–but are subject to moderation. Respectful disagreement and discussion is welcome; rude, inflammatory, or offensive language is not. All images and words are mine, unless otherwise stated. Contact me at email@example.com if you want to use any of my images or quote my words–please don’t steal!
